The Burj Khalifa in Dubai

The Burj Khalifa (Arabic برج خليفة, DMG Burǧ Halifa, Khalifa tower 'Burj Khalifa German transcription) is a skyscraper in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). Until the inauguration of the building was called Burj Dubai (Arabic برج دبي, Dubai Tower "), since it bears the name of the President of the United Arab Emirates.
 


The Burj Khalifa was built by the project company Emaar Properties, designed by architect Adrian Smith of the American architecture firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. He is since April 2008, the tallest building in the world, the world has the most floors and also the highest usable floor. Construction began in 2004, in January 2009, the final height of 828 meters was reached. The building was on the 4th Inaugurated in January 2010 and has since become the tallest building in the world.

The Burj Khalifa will be called by its size to the center of a new urban development area of Dubai, Downtown Dubai, where a rich mix of different functions such as retail, residential, offices, hotels, shopping, entertainment and leisure should be brought together and the one in the next few years will invest 20 billion U.S. dollars.
